This is a completely separate issue which to me sounds like a problem
in the driver. Please report a separate bug report for that.

Given you use proprietary nvidia software, please start with reporting all
your bug reports to nvidia. There's nothing we can do about them.
If nVidia figures it's a problem on our side they can look at the
open source code and figure it out and report an issue to us.
