Bug#837115: gnome: Can not adjust brightness, it set to max by default

Dear Maintainer,

  After installing some updates on debian stretch, the brightness is set to the maximum and can not be changed.
the information about the screen can not be viewed. When I go to settings->Displays it displays the message "Could not get screen information".
