Bug#882028: gedit: utf-8 combinator chars displayed at wrong position

Version: 3.22.1-1+b1

Utf-8 combinator characters are displayed at the wrong position,
merging with the next character rather than the previous. This happens
in the main edit box only; the file browser, title and tabs all display
such characters correctly.

Screenshot examples attached.

The characters used in the screenshots are the following sequence:

"ëéy̆"

This is (enclosed in quotes): U+00EB (e+diaeresis) U+0065 (e) U+0301
(accute accent combinator) U+0079 (y) U+0306 (breve combinator).

You can see that the e+diaeresis single char (U+00EB) obviously
displays fine, but he combinator chars are not.

The screenshot from libreoffice gives another example of what this
should look like.
