I guess no-one of the GNOME maintainers actually uses glib without
gvfs/udisks. Most likely your issue would be solved if you use those
packages.
So if you want to see this addressed I guess it's up to you to further
investigate this on your own, i.e. which changes in glib caused this new
behaviour
