Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Debian better.

Please don't file separate bugs for this for all of our packages though.

This can be fixed by adding this to debian/rules for over 90% of our packages:

override_dh_gnome:
    dh_gnome --no-gnome-versions

We haven't bothered doing that because that's a lot of repetition and
the warning is harmless.

Since it's used so rarely, we might be better off switching things
around so that it is only used where specifically requested.
Therefore, I'm going to reassign this to gnome-pkg-tools where we can
look into this issue.
