This sounds like a bug in your graphics driver rather than gnome-maps, so
I'm reassigning it to the libgl1-mesa-dri package. The allow_rgb10_configs
environment variable that you're using to work around this is a Mesa
feature.
Does this still happen with the current versions of Mesa and the Linux
kernel? (mesa 18.1.5-1 and Linux 4.17.8-1)
The mesa maintainers will need some more information from you:
please run "reportbug --template libgl1-mesa-dri" and send the resulting
system information to the bug address.
(Context for Mesa maintainers: the similarity between gnome-maps and totem
is that they both use Clutter, which uses GL for its 2D scene graph.)
Thanks,
