libfribidi0 1.0.5-3 should provide that symbol. Do you have a local copy
of libfribidi.so.0 somewhere else in your library source path?

Please send the output of these commands:

    ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpango-1.0.so.0
    ldd /usr/bin/i3

(or the same thing for any other program that is affected: the fewer
dependencies, the better).
