Bug#889706: gnome-shell: Gnome on Wayland causes GUI to freeze every ~1.5 seconds

When running Gnome on Wayland (xwayland in particular), the entire GUI freezes
every ~1.5 seconds for a few milliseconds, which can be noticed e.g. while
looping through the shell history or simply moving the mouse cursor around.
When running Weston or Gnome on xorg, that effect is not observable.

I am not sure if this is actually an issue of gnome-shell on Wayland, but it is
the most probable cause according to my experience. I have tried running kernel
with PREEMT_RT realtime patch set, but it did not help and the behavior was the
same. I have also tried stopping some services which are running on that
computer (docker, postgresql, redis, proftpd, cups, etc.), but it did not help
either. The effect was still present, although perhaps the freezes were
somewhat shorter (subjectively), not sure. But they still occurred at regular
intervals, every ~1.5 seconds.
