Hello Jeremy, 

can we please have a list of _all_ libraries that you want to drop?

I just went through porting this package to gsettings just to see that
there is now another dependency which should go away, and in this case
it is probably impossible, because the interface is build around glade2
and from personal experience I know that moving the interface
definitions files to glade3 syntax is not a simple translation.

Also with amide there was the discussion about gnome-canvas.
