Thank you for your interest in pygtk. I apologize for the late response.
Based on the number of popular packages using pygtk, it doesn't seem
practical to completely remove pygtk before the Buster release. It
sounds like we are agreed that it should be removed for Bullseye
(probably early in fact). Therefore, I think the Debian GNOME team
will continue its (very) minimal maintenance for the package. You're
welcome to help work on the package if you think there is anything
that needs doing.
