Bug#898684: 100% when monitor is plugged/unplugged while system is suspended or hibernated

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.28.1-1
Severity: important
Hello,
to reproduce:
1. start from home, with the laptop attached to an external monitor
2. suspend or hibernate
3. detach the external monitor and pack the laptop
4. go visit an important customer
5. wake up the system
6. gnome-shell will now consume 100% CPU, overheat the laptop, severely
reduce system performance and battery time, ruin a work day at the
important customer, cause serious embarassment
I have not found a way to make it stop, short of having another external
monitor to plug/unplug, restart the whole X session, or reboot.
