Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.30.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Upon upgrading to gnome-shell 3.30, I am experiencing frequent crashes
of gnome-shell. This is the stack trace I get:

Sep 06 12:18:56 bolt systemd-coredump[4691]: Process 3649 (gnome-shell) of user 1000 dumped core.

                                             Stack trace of thread 3649:

(Plus many threads in __GI___poll, futex_wait_cancelable, and
g_cond_wait_until. Let me know if you need those.)

Once, I observed this additional log message after the crash:

Sep 06 11:13:15 bolt gnome-shell[6491]: invalid (NULL) pointer instance
Sep 06 11:13:15 bolt gnome-shell[6491]: g_signal_emit_by_name: assertion 'G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

This happens even with all extensions disabled.

Downgrading to gnome-shell 3.28 (and, correspondingly, downgrading to
libmutter-2-0 3.28.3-2 and its gir package) gets rid of the issue.

I would be grateful for any hints on what might be wrong.

Thanks!
Andreas
