Bug#908441: Displays garbage in the prompt under screen, vim, nvim

The latest version of libvte changed this script to attempt to use the
single-byte versions of OSC and ST.  Unfortunately, this breaks in
screen, vim, nvim, and potentially other terminal programs, which don't
seem to handle that approach. Upstream reverted this change today, in
commit b3b3c3585528754a0923fcfc7a74126cd839784f. Could you please
cherry-pick that commit into the Debian package?
