No. Despite its name, chrome-gnome-shell also supports Chromium and
Firefox, both of which are in main.

chrome-gnome-shell is expected to be installed by default in a
full-featured GNOME installation. Requiring users to manually enable
contrib and install a package they don't know they need in order for
https://extensions.gnome.org/ to work isn't very user-friendly.
