Actually, it's not such a good reason in recent versions, because
glib-genmarshal has been rewritten from C into Python to remove this
concern; so the Meson build system just runs it as-is, without worrying
about which architecture we're building. I'm looking into whether the
same thing is feasible for Autotools.
