Bug#928058: correction

In the title, I wrote XFCE, but that should be replaced with MATE.  I tried this in the default CINNAMON, MATE, and GNOME installs of Debian.
All installs described in the bug report and the forum post were done using a netinst image, though I did experience the errors on both a livecd of Buster Cinnamon and an install from that same image.
