Just gutting the python2 parts of this package should be easy enough.
The main blocker is large number of reverse dependencies. (See below.)

Someone will likely need to decide how this is going to be handled
before the bullseye release. If anyone thinks this needs to be kept then
plans should be layed out for that really soon.
