Bug#931650: nautilus: Sidebar fails to show Desktop directory

Package: nautilus
Version: 3.30.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded from Debian 9.9 with XFCE to Debian 10 with XFCE. Because
XFCE would not wake from suspend or hibernate in response to keyboard
or mouse movement (a known bug in XFCE when using an external
monitor--which I have), I uninstalled XFCE and installed Gnome.
With Gnome installed I discovered the sidebar of the Nautilus file
manager application failed to show a shortcut to the "Desktop" folder in
my user account's Home directory. I used Nautilus as a file manaager in XFCE and did not
encounter this problem; within XFCE, Nautilus did show "Desktop" in its
   sidebar navigation shortcuts.

I was able to create a shortcut to my Desktop folder in the Gnome
     Nautilus sidebar,
by hitting "Ctrl+d" while viewing contents of ~/Desktop with
Nautilus. However this shortcut appears at the bottom of the
sidebar. Desktop is so fundamental to the user's file system that I
believe it should appear automatically at the top of the sidebar
along with other major directories such as Documents and Downloads.
I tried "sudo apt-get install Nautilus" but got a message that my
version of Nautilus was already the latest. My sources.list file
for apt-get lists "buster" as the Debian version instead of
     "stretch."
