Package: gimp
Version: 2.10.8-2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Thank you very much for maintaining gimp!
It's very, very useful!
I seem to have found a way to crash it.
Maybe you can too.
(And ultimately, fix it.)
* What led up to the situation?
1.) Run gimp from the command line with
$ gimp
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
gimp: LibGimpBase-WARNING: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
2.) Create a new image
File->New->OK
3.) Select gimp's "measure" tool by
a.) moving the mouse's pointer over the
icon of a compass and
b.) clicking the mouse's left button.
4.) Move the mouse's pointer over the newly
created image.
5.) Click the mouse's left button.
6.) Watch gimp crash with
(script-fu:3615): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: 22:37:47.912: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error
Segmentation fault
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected to be able to measure the distance
between 2 points.
I tried to work around the crash with different
options for the measure tool.
No luck.
I hope that helps,
Kingsley
