Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.30.2-9
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Not entirely sure where this report should go, but the gnome-screensaver
package says that gnome-shell does screensaving these days..
Before I upgraded to buster and Wayland, Debian would send my monitor to sleep
when the screensaver kicked in. It doesn't do this any more.
There's nothing in Device Settings for my monitor, or Power Management
Settings, about sending the monitor to sleep.
Investigating, I find that "xset q" reports "Server does not have the DPMS
Extension".
This thread suggests that I might be wrong to investigate using "xset", but
whatever xset's been replaced with clearly isn't working.
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/316929/display-is-not-capable-of-
dpms-after-gnome-wayland-update
The busctl invocations described in the thread do work:
busctl --user set-property org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig
/org/gnome/Mutter/DisplayConfig org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig PowerSaveMode i
1
Did the upgrade from stretch fail to install some crucial package? Where
should I now be configuring Gnome to send my monitor to sleep?
Best,
Conrad
