Yes, I already maintain many ruby and node packages in backports so I'm 
familiar with the process. I have to maintain a personal backport of 
geary anyway (I'm already using my personal backport on a daily basis), 
so it won't be any extra effort for me to maintain it officially. I 
have already requested access to gnome-team on salsa, please approve or 
at least add me to geary repo so I can maintain a branch there for 
backports.

I have already backported libhandy and it is in backports-new.
