Thanks, with that hint I can reproduce this. I think it's caused by
the change made for <https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/vte/-/issues/226>.

Workaround: Preferences -> profile -> Colors -> Text and Background
Color -> uncheck "Use colors from system theme".
