Bug#987040: gdm3: Sometimes system locks hard after entering password

Package: gdm3
Version: 3.38.2.1-1
Severity: important

This has happened now two times within a week or so (never happened before) on an up-to-date debian testing
system.

* Waking up from suspend
* Entering password on login-screen and press enter
* System freezes completely (can't change to terminal, no mouse pointer reaction, etc)
* Only reboot helps, loosing work in suspended session

Maybe it is related to entering the wrong PW the first time, and after
entering the correct one it freezes (but I am not 100% certain whether
that was also the case last time it happened).

There is (to my eyes) nothing suspicious in the syslog before the
crash (a lot of annoying tracker messages flooding the log, but that
seems to be "normal").

Unfortunately/fortunately I have not yet found a way to reliably
reproduce it.

Thanks, Florian
