Bug#1009907: cloning it back to smbclient for people to see

Since this is something people see in samba and are trying to look up in between
samba bugs, let's clone it properly.

It would be really nice to have this patch backported to bullseye. I have really
large amount of requests asking to backport samba 4.16 to bulleye (which is trivial)
but it will give us this issue in gvfs.  Well, at least the server part should work
fine.
