I believe you are referring to these four icon names, which are meant to
be overridden by copies in /usr/share/evolution-data-server/icons/hicolor:
- appointment-missed
- appointment-soon
- dialog-password
- dialog-warning
I think we probably need to continue to ship these, at least in the short
term, because they are referred to by other packages (such as gnome-panel)
and it's difficult to assess whether those other packages are going to be
broken by their removal from the theme.
However, I think it should be possible to make e-d-s's copies "win" by
adding a symlink to the evolution-data-server-common package:
/usr/share/evolution-data-server/icons/Adwaita -> hicolor
Please could an Evolution maintainer/user test that? I very rarely
use Evolution myself, so I'm not familiar with how to make these icons
be shown.
