caribou is no longer maintained:

It also depends on the unmaintained clutter-1.0 framework (#1041623).
It is not clear to me whether it ever reached a fully-usable status:

The only package in Debian that depends on it is cinnamon.
If cinnamon needs this package for its onscreen keyboard, then someone
from the cinnamon community will need to take responsibility for its
upstream maintenance.
Alternatively, if cinnamon doesn't need this feature or can use some
replacement, then caribou should be removed during the Debian 13 cycle.
