I can't reproduce it.
Does it happen at all editing positions? Does it happen at the first
removal? Does it happen at insertions?
Random difference guesses:
- Does it happen with a plain
PS1="$ "
prompt?
- Is your terminal using TERM=xterm-256color or something else?
- Does it happen with a reinitialized profile?
