Hello,
I wanted to ask you a question. There's a problem with the Debian 13 Cinnamon image and my RTX 5070 Ti. It's only 100% supported by the Rust Nova driver included with kernel 6.16, if I remember correctly.
This GPU worked under Debian 12. But under Debian 13 Cinnamon, X11 won't start. I have to log into my account via the command line and then manually start X11 for everything to work. Lightdm, which is started and running, never appears on the screen.
Look at the xorg log :
[ 28.228] (EE) [drm] Failed to open DRM device for pci:0000:09:00.0: -19
[ 28.228] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory
[ 28.228] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for modesetting
[ 28.228] (EE) open /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory
...
[ 28.231] (EE) Unable to find a valid framebuffer device
[ 28.231] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for fbdev
...
[ 28.232] vesa: Refusing to run, Framebuffer or dri device present
[ 28.232] (EE) Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section.
[ 28.232] (II) UnloadModule: "modesetting"
[ 28.232] (EE) Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section.
The other solution is to install Gnome and Debian together, and miraculously, GDM3 appears and I can log in :)
So I asked myself a question, what are the differences between installing Gnome or Cinnamon under Debian 13 that creates this problem ?
Have you by any chance encountered and resolved this bug yourself, or is it just a coincidence ?
Thank you in advance for your reply so we can try to resolve this...
Best regards.
Philippe
