Package: evolution
Version: 3.56.1-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation?
My usual workflow for reading my GMAIL email is to archive the email via the
Ctrl-Alt-A shortcut, which worked for years using Debian 12 and also worked for
Debian 13 after release. This stopped to work 1-2 works ago.
The error message that pops up in Evolution, indicates that Evolution tries and
fails to move the mail to the 'Archiv' folder, which does not exist. The
correct name for the folder is 'Archive'. It seems like a translation to German
is used for the folder name.
Moving the email to the 'Archive' folder via drag'n'drop works w/o trouble.
Using the archive action in the Thunderbird email client also succeeds.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Select an email in Evolution and press Ctrl-Alt-A to archive the email.
* What was the outcome of this action?
An error message, that the message could not be moved to the 'Archiv' folder,
because it does not exist. The error message is correct, the folder is called
'Archive' and not 'Archiv'.
Original error message in German:
Fehler bei »Nachrichten werden nach »folder://.../Archiv« verschoben«.
Ordner »Archiv« nicht vorhanden
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected that after I select an email and hit ctrl-alt-A, the email will be
moved to the 'Archive' folder.
This worked for Evolution/Debian 12 and it worked directly after the release of
Debian 13 for several week until perhaps after 15th of August 2025.
