Please try downgrading xkb-data to version 2.42-1 (from testing) and put
it on hold in apt, then report back whether this fixed the crash.

xkb-data has a critical bug (#1122805) which is breaking a lot of other
software at the moment.

I would recommend that users of unstable should always have testing
available as a second apt source, so that broken packages in unstable
can be downgraded to their testing versions until they are fixed.

I would also recommend installing the apt-listbugs package, which can
warn you when the packages you are about to install or upgrade have
release-critical bugs.
