Severity: important

GNOME no longer uses notification-daemon, and its git repository has
been moved to https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/notification-daemon and
archived. This means that it no longer accepts issue reports or merge
requests, even if a serious problem is found.

The remaining packages that depend on notification-daemon with no
alternative appear to be:

- blueman
- systray-mdstat
- golang-github-thecreeper-go-notify
- python-notify2

and some other packages have Recommends.

However, notification-daemon is also a virtual package, implemented
by desktop environments and window managers that implement
org.freedesktop.Notifications internally (GNOME Shell, KDE Plasma
Workspace, Phosh, Cinnamon, etc.) or in a specific component that
only implements notifications, either desktop-specific (xfce4-notifyd,
mate-notification-daemon, etc.) or not (dunst, notify-osd, etc.).
