Yes, I don't like or understand the current implementation either.
Edubuntu is an official Ubuntu desktop flavor that adds apps and
features on top of Ubuntu Desktop. Edubuntu includes and enables

by default because it can be annoying in environments where you want
the UI to be consistent for everyone.

Yeah, I've never used the tool and am unsure to what extent it's still
required in a GNOME desktop. It needs Design help.
