Also thanks for this explanation. I stumbled upon this patch that Fedora
made.
I would have thought that Debian (or Ubuntu) would have provided a similar
patch,
considering the previous misunderstanding.

Such a feature indeed needs to be done at the upstream side, and it takes
time.
