Grab a heic file from somewhere, e.g., your smartphone or https://heic.digital/download-sample/soundboard.heic https://heic.digital/download-sample/soundboard.heic. Examine its properties with exiftool to ensure that it has a timestamp. For instance, the soundboard file has

Open the file with eog. Observe that in the properties pane, there is nothing to the right of “Date” and “Time”.
We expect, on the contrary, that the fields are properly filled. E.g., for the soundboard file we should see January 21, 2024, and 18:27:07. Of course, in the language and formatting specified by your locale.
