Review comment:

I understand the complexity of the copyright, as expressed in debian/copyright, but
Debian standards have moved on since 2005 and now there is a copyright format which
*can* express that complexity.  Why not, for it's 21st birthday, give it a new file?

Also, there's a number of unnecessary versioned dependencies that could be fixed at
the same time :-)
