That suggests that this is the same issue as #1125941, or at least 
closely related.

Please try the test-build of gnome-shell from 
<https://people.debian.org/~smcv/temp/2026/bug1125941/revert/> which 
reverts an upstream change that might have caused this. (Built from 
<https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/114)

Thanks, that's also useful information - that confirms that it isn't 
necessary to have a complicated monitor layout to see this issue.
