Unfortunately, I cannot change the kernel version because the QNAP kernel is 
"embedded" in the firmware.
The only thing that I can do is to load additional kernel modules by compiling 
against the GPL sources (see the attached ".config" file on the previous 
posts), but obviously this won't fix my issue.

So I'll have to stick with squeeze until a "compatible" kernel will be 
released.
