EXTERNAL_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is not a de-facto debian standard. If you
would prefer a configure option, that would be fine as well. I went
with an environment variable for my patch because it seemed simplest
(and it can be passed as an argument to ./configure as well, e.g.
./configure EXTERNAL_BUILD_TIMESTAMP=2014-09-23T09:49+0000
) but i have no objection to an explicit configure option.
Do you want me to submit a revised patch using a configure option? if
so, what would you prefer the name to be?
Thanks for considering this,
