A rough attempt at a cherry-pick against the "wheezy" branch on
git.debian.org's gnupg2 repository is attached.  I have *not* reviewed
this closely yet, just tried to get it to apply cleanly; i haven't even
tested it -- review would be quite welcome!

the cherry-pick was uglier than usual because it crosses some major
whitespace changes in the upstream codebase.
