This was resolved back in 0.9.0 for gtk2, and slightly more recently for
qt.  All the versions in testing are fixed already.  (see also
https://bugs.debian.org/766108 which discusses the same issue).

I agree with you that being able to copy/paste is better for both
usability and security than not being able to, but i also don't think
this is a grave bug.   If you've tried a newer version of pinentry, and
you find you can't copy/paste, please report back here!
