In fact the problem disappeared - probably around the time when I migrated my
32bit system to 64bit (just the Debian packages; not hardware).

Thank you for digging further into the issue and for sharing your findings.
I looked through them, but failed to spot anything that could explain my
crashes.
Thus if my "32 bit theory" does not trigger any more ideas, then I would
suggest to close this bug report as non-reproducible or invalid.
