I will not lie, I'm (like others) pissed off by this situation, where we (= the people asking for a change in the debian package) are ignored like a pile of poop on the sidewalk. Over the years, 2 merge request or patches have been provided: - https://salsa.debian.org/debian/gpgme/-/merge_requests/2 - https://salsa.debian.org/twolife/gpgme/-/commits/gpgmejson I think we have done our part. But all we got was... nothing! Not a review, not even a word. Just plain ignore. This is insulting. What are we supposed to do ? What do YOU want us to do for this to advance ? More code/MR ? More begging ? Do you have any estimate when you > plan to upload it to experimental and/or unstable ? Hello Patrick, I am sorry I cannot give you an estimate there. I will not upload without approval/review by the main maintainters. An upload would go to experimental first. Splitting of the qt devel packages (#863149) will require an intermediate upload to unstable with just adding a Provides: libqgpgme-dev to libgpgmepp-dev, followed by changing all packagages (build)-depending on QT gpgme to add a (build)-dep on the new package name. Only once that is finished gpgme with qt5/6-dev as separate packages could be uploaded to unstable. cu Andreas From ametzler at bebt.de Wed Jul 17 07:16:44 2024 From: ametzler at bebt.de (Andreas Metzler) Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2024 08:16:44 +0200 Subject: [pkg-gnupg-maint] Bug#911189: gpgme-json packaging In-Reply-To: <1b51cfd7bc7276080d233be98b4e3da8403c7baf.camel@twolife.be> References: <153973075712.2829.12295559742030556990.reportbug@alice.fifthhorseman.net> <1b51cfd7bc7276080d233be98b4e3da8403c7baf.camel@twolife.be> <153973075712.2829.12295559742030556990.reportbug@alice.fifthhorseman.net> Message-ID: On 2024-07-14 S?bastien Noel wrote: [...] > You are the first person of the "debian gpg team" (i saw "team upload" > in the changelog on your latest upload, so i supposed you are part of > it) to react to this bug in 5 years. > I will not lie, I'm (like others) pissed off by this situation, where > we (= the people asking for a change in the debian package) are ignored > like a pile of poop on the sidewalk. > Over the years, 2 merge request or patches have been provided: > - https://salsa.debian.org/debian/gpgme/-/merge_requests/2 > - https://salsa.debian.org/twolife/gpgme/-/commits/gpgmejson > I think we have done our part. Good morning S?bastien, I can understand your unhappiness but sadly cannot do much alleviate it. Regarding my role in team: I am limiting myself to changes that do not include policy choices. I cannot take the responsibility of being the main maintainer. Adding another binding which requires another piece of specialized knowledge to maintain it clearly is a policy change, so I will not do it. cu Andreas -- `What a good friend you are to him, Dr. Maturin. So, if I understand you correctly: gpgme is officially "team maintained" (with you as the only 'active' member), but is unmaintained in practice ? What are my options to improve things ?
