Hi all--
2.4.9 was also released by upstream today. I am game to package that
for unstable and try to synchronize it with the work that Andreas has
done in experimental.
as for stable, i think a security release that could be swept into the
next point release would be a good idea. I can try to do some of that
backporting as well.
For oldstable, which still has the 2.2 series, it seems possible that we
would want to consider upstream's actual support for 2.2.x.
Despite the claimed EOL at the end of 2024, it now looks like upstream
will support 2.2.x indefinitely; indeed, they're releasing stable fixes
for the 2.2 branch more frequently than they do for the 2.4 branch. At
this point, I feel like it was probably a mistake to move debian stable
to 2.4. I'm sorry i made that call at the time.
I plan to start packaging 2.4.9 for unstable today, then i will turn my
attention to some narrowly-targeted patches for 2.4.7.
Many thanks to Andreas and Salvatore for the work they've done on
handling gpg.fail already!
