Well, for us this is not a reason for package removal, otherwise half
of GNUstep ought to be removed since many GNUstep apps are more or
less dead ;-)

Perhaps you could orphan it instead of asking for removal?  Are there
any serious problems with gnome-gv?  I haven't tried Evince from
experimental, but I'm still using gnome-gv at work since there are
some nasty rendering bugs in Evince that appear with some weird
documents.
