Could you please describe the use case that is failing for you?  On a
Debian system, it is not required to source GNUstep.sh as the upstream
documentaion says.  Does it fail when gnustep-make is not installed?

With the FHS layout the Debian packages are built, GNUstep.sh is
mostly obsolete (even if you build GNUstep stuff -- one can use
gs_make or just export GNUSTEP_MAKEFILES).  The purpose of
gnustep-common is to provide some basic required files that need to be
available if you have anything GNUstep-related installed.
gnustep-make is only needed for building.

We cannot make gnustep-common depend on gnustep-make; that would be a
circular dependency.  If print_unique_pathlist.sh is actually required
for a basic workstation, we have to move it to gnustep-common.  But
I'm not convinced that's the case.
