I think it does not need a fix for stable, as Charmap runs fine for me
there.  The fix you mention is relevant to the new version of
gnustep-gui that is not available in stable.  Do you experience
problems with Charmap?  I am curious to know what they are (apart from
the known ones, which albeit annoying, do not classify as RC bugs).

I agree 100% with this goal and would do my best to correct any
outstanding issues.
