Indeed, it was added recently (circa June 2017).

The normal workflow also works with this option; it is equivalent to:

$ uscan
$ gbp import-orig ../foo_x.y.z.orig.tar.gz

If you use gbp clone for a repository without a pristine-tar branch,
you have to remember to fetch the tarball with uscan or wget/apt-get
source.  However, even if you forget, you get prompted about the
missing orig tarball when building the package.  No big deal.
