git-core: gnutls_handshake() fail when using https:// over a proxy

Is there any information that could be provided to help track this
down?  If not, I'll reassign the bug back to git (and either implement
a fake-git testcase or perhaps see if ancient squid was causing
trouble), but I'd really rather get your feedback on what information
is useful first.
