Good morning-
I would like to notify both the pkg-go and debian-printing teams that
I have submitted an ITP for the Google Cloud Print CUPS Connector
(gcp-cups-connector). This software makes CUPS printers available in
Google Cloud Print, used for printing from ChromeOS and Android. It is
implemented in Go. I am the upstream author/maintainer; I have no
experience with Debian packaging.
It was suggested that I contact these teams so that they are aware.
Chuan-kai Lin (cc'd) has offered to sponsor, and I have agreed to
package (although both of these roles may be unnecessary; keep
reading).
It seems that both pkg-go and debian-printing prefer to maintain the
packages in their own organized ways, taking ownership for their
respective domains. My preference is to be as lazy as possible, since
I need to walk this path again in at least Fedora and Arch.
My humble suggestion is that the pkg-go team maintain this package,
because (1) nothing in printing is dependent on gcp-cups-connector and
(2) the project is easier to grok for a Go person than for a printing
person.
