Right, this was mostly my intention here. I fear that without the right
tools and documentation in place we end up with many different types of
repository, especially if it is newcomers that fill the documentation
gaps with whatever fix they find first.

Agreed, I stand corrected. Using the new layout is fine as long as its
done correctly.
